It seems that some liberals have started to craw out of their hiding places to face their constituents. Just a couple of days ago we saw Rep Melissa Bean (D-IL) and her beefy librarian friend intimidating her constituents and earlier today we heard news of Rep Tom Perriello (D-VA) banning people from bringing signs to his town halls. Now video has surfaced of Senator Kay Hagan having the consequences of her vote for Obamacare explained to her by a woman worried about her children. (h/t Brian Faughnan)
Obamacare is a disaster, voters know it, and they’re going to let their representatives know it:
In much better times, back when Democrats were going to save the world from the evil Bush regime, Nancy Pelosi uttered words that changed America forever and provided hope to the masses: those words were her pledge to lead the most honest, open, ethical Congress in history.
Oh how times have changed.
Now Obama’s approval ratings are down–a new poll released today shows him as low as 41%, Congress has an 11% approval rating, private sector jobs still aren’t showing up despite flowery and optimistic talk coming from the White House, not to mention the oil spill response from both BP and the White House was absolutely horrendous. Moderate to left leaning Kathleen Parker even wrote an op-ed for the Washington Post, titled’ Obama: Our First Female President‘ in response to Obama’s style of leadership. Now that’s embarrassing.
In comes Reps. Charlie Rangel (D-NY) and Maxine Waters (D-CA) adding to the ever compiling list going against the Democrats favor this fall. Rangel is now facing a trial on 13 ethics charges that will surely carry through to the elections. Rep. Maxine Waters, a 10-term representative from California, has also been charged with violating ethics rules, setting the stage for a second trial.
When the Democrats took back control of the House and Senate in 2006, Nancy Pelosi made that magical statement about leading the most honest, open, and ethical Congress in history. Not only that, she talked up bipartisanship to a level that’s nowhere to be found. In fact, it’s pretty apparent that they have used controversial tactics multiple times to pass bills– such as health care– making backroom doors and buying votes. That’s only one of the many. Not very honest, open, or ethical. These trials only add to the plethora of broken promises and downright lies Pelosi promised.
Here she is in 2006, on a mission to be the savior of politics along with fellow Democrats as a standard to live up to:
Transparency.
Flash forward to when Rangel first became an issue earlier this year. In February of 2010, Pelosi still claimed she was leading the most ethical Congress ever. Read More
Dr. Fred Shessel of Docs4PatientCare, an organization of concerned physicians committed to the establishment of a health care system that preserves the sanctity of the doctor-patient relationship, has a message for anyone willing to listen: Politicians and those who pushed for health care reform lied about rationing and socialized medical care while implementing a “back door power grab that’s dragging our country down the road to socialism.”
“I’m angry, and you should be too. The politicians, pundits, and ultimately the President of the United States told us again and again, “health care reform won’t ration care.” They lied. They said reform is not socialized medicine. They lied. They said it’s not socialism. They lied. And then they nominated a socialist to run it”, he says within the video.
Today, President Obama officially made Donald Berwick his recess appointment to be the administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
In 2008 while speaking on the British health care system in the UK, Berwick said wealthy individuals must redistribute their wealth to those less fortunate for health care funding. Also during this speech, he told those in attendance that he opposes free markets.
“Any health care funding plan that is just equitable civilized and humane must, must redistribute wealth from the richer among us to the poorer and the less fortunate. Excellent health care is by definition redistributional.”
President Obama has officially made Donald Berwick his recess appointment to be the administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
In 2008 while speaking to a British audience about why he opposes free market solutions to health care problems, Berwick essentially said we should move away from free markets and give leaders the final say.
“Please don’t put your faith in market forces. It is a popular idea that Adam Smith’s invisible hand will do a better job at designing care than leaders with plans can do. I do not agree. I find little evidence anywhere that market forces bluntly used that is just consumer choice among a ray of products with competitors fighting it out, leads to the health care system you want and need”, said Berwick.
Poll numbers continue to remain sour for Obama and friends.
According to a new Rasmussen Report survey released today, 28% of likely voters believe the country is headed in the right direction, compared to 66% who think we’re on the wrong track.
As for confidence among those polled? Just as low. Only 28% – 33% have faith in the current direction in which we are headed. When health care bill initially passed, this number peaked at a meager 35%, but has since dipped down to the levels found prior to its passage.
A solid chunk of those who believe we’re full-steam ahead down the wrong path is largely comprised of Republicans and unaffiliated voters, as a majority of Democrats believe we are headed in the right direction.
Sixty-six percent (66%) of all voters believe we are traveling down the wrong road, holding steady at these levels for several weeks now.
A majority of whites and voters of other ethnicities are pessimistic of our current course, while most African Americans are optimistic. As a whole, Americans believe it is vastly important to cut the federal budget deficit in the next couple of years, but few doubt it will happen.
