Gov. Deval Patrick of Massachusetts said in response to the Glenn Beck ‘Restoring Honor’ rally that it’s a free country, and that he’s not all that happy about that fact. Patrick said “It’s a free country, I wish it weren’t.
The clip was posted by Michael Graham from Boston’s WTKK in which the Gov. was answering a question about the rally. It’s beyond me how any public official could ever spew something that politically dumb without an ounce of thought about it– or even thinking for a second what they are saying is, well, absolutely crazy.
According to Lee’s website, this is a video of the hostage taker, James Jay Lee, throwing money in the air in Silver Springs, MD. The YouTube video is dated as March 3, 2010. The person who shot this video wrote:
While walking to get lunch while on my break from work, I looked around to see a mob of people flocking back and forth from one area of the downtown Silver Spring area to the next. As I walked more, I saw money being thrown up into the air..! To this day, I still don’t know what exactly happened, so hopefully with this video being online, I can find out!
Update: The man in this video who was throwing money is also the gunman of the recent (Happening as I update this) shooting and hostage situation at the Discovery Building in downtown Silver Spring, MD. Quite crazy!
Thanks to Verum Serum, here is another video of a title sequence he created for his proposed Discovery channel show.
Right now there is a man who has taken hostages at the Discovery Channel’s building in Silver Spring, Maryland. I’m watching Fox News for the latest updates on what is unfolding. Here is their story on FoxNews.com. (UPDATE: reports are that Lee has been shot by police and the hostages have been released safely)
His name is being reported as James Jay Lee and he has a long history of hating the Discovery channel that is well documented online. For starters there is this DCist post from January 2008 about this guy’s protest against the Discovery channel. They basically mock him for being a nut because of this insane manifesto he posted online around the same time.
That insane manifesto includes a list of demands that includes this:
In an interview with NBC’s Brian Williams, President Obama reinforced his position on the Ground Zero mosque. In typical Obama fashion, he blamed the media for the mis-understanding of his initial remarks.
Of course, we all know nothing is his fault…
However, despite Obama defending his position, it still puts him at odds with Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid who called for relocation. Howard Dean also came out in support of the mosque being moved. As are 71% of Americans who are saying it’s “inappropriate” to put a mosque at Ground Zero.
Last week, we went to the site of the Ground Zero Mosque– which is located just two blocks away from the WTC site– and interviewed the Imam’s close friend and security guard on whether Imam Rauf ever clarified his comments made about U.S. policies as the reason for the attacks; he responded saying the Imam doesn’t have to.
Given this ‘get out of jail for free’ card, lets look at one example of how illegal immigrants drive up costs and how this would be completely unfair, not only to U.S. citizens who pay into the system, but also those who come to the U.S. legally.
One year ago, Carol Plato, an executive director of Martin Memorial Medical Center in Florida, gave a briefing on the specific costs and liabilities hospitals incur when they knowingly treat illegal immigrants.
Besides hearing the outrageous itemized costs that Carol lists, even more outrageous is that one of the illegal immigrants treated was deported — after racking up millions of dollars in legal fees– and is now suing the hospital.
At 51 Park Place in New York City–the proposed Ground Zero mosque location– Eyeblast.tv was interviewing people on the street when an American Muslim supporter of the mosque said to “get over” 9/11 and that despite Manhattan having over 200 mosques, they need to keep the location of the mosque “right here.”
“God d****it, my wife is Jewish. Come on you guys, get over it”, the man said in regards to 9/11 after trying to draw an analogy using the Vietnam War. Right after he says to “get over it”, a lady responded “Oh my God, I’m not going to get over it- it happened right there”, pointing towards Ground Zero. An argument then breaks out between the two. In typical leftist debating fashion, he later calls her a “racist”.
The Media Research Center interviewed New Yorkers about their thoughts on the proposed Ground Zero Mosque located just two blocks away from the World Trade Center site. Overall, 63% of Americans oppose the mosque– here is what local residents have to say:
Thursday outside of 51 Park Place in New York City–the location of the proposed Ground Zero Mosque–Eyeblast.tv interviewed Kamal Wahad who is a personal friend and follower of Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf and security guard of the vacant building.
During the interview Wahad said there is no point in relocating the mosque, and that the funding “will come from Muslims around the world.”
Wahad says he’s known Rauf for “twenty-something years” and has been a follower the entire time. When asked why the Imam will not meet with New York Governor David A. Paterson about relocating, he stated ” there’s no point in relocating because people need to understand what is Islam, and what isn’t Islam.”
Many have also questioned exactly where the funding for the Mosque is coming from. According to Wahad, it will “come from Muslims all around the world”, and believes it’s a private matter and that it’s not necessary for people to disclose who their contributors are.
Wahad also said that the Imam has spoken out against terrorism in the past. However, just 19 days after the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center, Rauf blamed U.S. policy for it happening in the first place. When questioned if Rauf made clarification on the comments that U.S. policies was an “accessory” to 9/11, he responded, “does he really have to?”
City officials were ordered to roll back the tax rate after the state controller discovered the city illegally raised its property taxes in 2007. The current rate is roughly 50 percent higher than it was three years ago.
